PhotoRex for Mac
Redate, Rename, Convert, OCR.

Redate, Rename, Convert, OCR.
PhotoRex is a powerful date editor. You can redate files in bulk, shift timestamps, automatically derive dates from filenames, and even use OCR to read dates stamped directly on your photos and movies. In addition to date editing, PhotoRex also supports batch rename, format conversion as well as customizable watermarks and timestamps.
PhotoRex helps you correct the chronological order of your library. You can manually assign a specific date and time to a group of photos or use automated tools to do it for you. The app can derive dates directly from filenames or use AI (OCR) to "read" date stamps visible in an image or the first few frames of a video.
Turn generic system filenames into something more useful. You can rename hundreds of files at once using custom text and automated counters (e.g., "File_01," "File_02"). A real-time preview ensures your new names look exactly right before you export.
If your camera clock was set incorrectly or you traveled between time zones, you can shift the timestamps of a batch of photos forward or backward by a specific number of minutes or hours. This keeps your entire gallery perfectly in sync.
You can change the file format of your media in bulk. The app supports high-quality conversion between JPEG, PNG, and HEIC, making it easy to prepare files for different platforms or save storage space.
Add context or protection to your images. You can burn the original "Date Taken" timestamp directly onto the photo—ideal for documentation or a vintage aesthetic—or apply custom text overlays across the entire batch.
The app prioritizes the safety of your media. It never modifies your original files; instead, it creates new copies with your changes applied. You can then export these as new files.
